06-5 Returns Home

On April 2, 2012 at 7am Life Member George Kaiser along with Capt. Mike Boyle, 1st. Lt. Bryan Dolan, 2nd Lt. Joe Dolan and FF Ken Felker headed out on a 3 hour trip to Lewistown, Pennsylvania to pick up the old 06-5 from Pat Shoop. 06-5 was sold to Hanover Township #4 in 1995 when Quint 6 was purchased. Hanover used the 1969 rear mount Seagraves until 2006 when it was sold to a private collector. That collector in turn sold the truck to Mr. Shoop in October 2011. Life Member and Antique Fire Truck Collector George Kaiser was looking to purchase another vehicle. He had a tentative deal on a truck that fell through. He then found the old 06-5 on the internet. George contacted Mr. Shoop just in time. Mr. Shoop had begun to strip the truck in preparation to scrap it. The crew arrived at 10am and after transferring the truck, photograph's and lunch the crew headed home around 1pm. The trip home took 4 and a half hours and was uneventful except for a frayed generator belt. It was good to see and hear the "Queen" back in town. More photograph's will be posted as George restores the truck....
