The firefighters from CFC1&2 were down the training center running joint car fire evolutions this past week. Mr. Gene Bidoli brought a portable CAF system to demonstrate. The CAF system consisted of what appears to be a regular PW extinguisher with a chemical foam bottle added and a cart mounted system capable of generating 500 gallons(by volume) of foam. Both systems were tried out as well as standard car fire procedures. One added bonus to the evening was that one vehicle had a metal burn in the interior and several rookies got a hands-on demo of burning metal procedure and the use of the portable foam applicator.
