Due to the expected snowstorm, the Memorial Service that was scheduled for this evening was postponed until Thursday, March 11th, 2010. Instead, members stayed inside due to the frigid temperatures and wintry weather conditions and continued training on the basics. Crew night started off with a lecture from Lieutenants Dave Seifert and Mike Boyle on the proper techniques of search and rescue including right-handed searches vs. left-handed searches as well as the tools and equipment that would be needed or used during search and rescue. After the lecture ended, the game room of the fire house was used as an area where the members could practice what they just learned. Members broke down into two-man teams and performed either a left-handed or right-handed search while searching for and rescuing several mock victims using different scenarios. Next week members will take what they learned and put it to test when they go to Joes House at the Delaware County Emergency Services Training Center in Darby Township.
