This past week, President Carter packed and shipped 6 boxes of "goodies" for our troops stationed in Kalsu, Iraq. Two of our own, CWO2 John Daly (USMC) has just completed his tour, and his brother, Sgt, Dave Peterson (US Army) is currently serving in a front line unit where we shipped our care packages. Collingdale Fire Company #1 had collected some toiletries, powdered drink mixes, candies and assorted comfort items to make their time over there a little bit more bearable. We also sent along four 8 foot wading pools. Serving in 100+ degree heat in fatigues, flack jacket, backpack and carrying your rifle, a splash in the pool offers a welcomed break in the everyday routine. CWO2 Daley and Sgt. Peterson are the sons of our Fire Prevention Officer Mrs. Jean Peterson and past President Dave Peterson. We will soon begin yet another collection to be shipped to the war zones by Christmas/Hanukah. Any items you would like to donate may be left at the Collingdale Fire Company No.1 at 510 Clifton Ave. in Collingdale. Our thanks go out to everyone who contributed, and especially to those who serve.
