This evening the Daisy's Girl Scout Troop from Aldan came to the firehouse for a tour and fire prevention demonstration. Girl Scout Daisies meet in groups of five to ten with two or more adult leaders in a nurturing, inclusive environment. They go on trips, learn about nature and science, and explore the arts and their communities. Girl Scout Daisies usually range in grades K-1. The group of ten Daisies were shown all the trucks, ambulances and equipment by members of the Fire Prevention Committee. After getting the tour and excitement of getting to sit inside a fire truck and ambulance, each group was taken into the Fire Prevention Trailer for a demonstration on what to do in case of a fire. Each daisy were taught to stay as low to the ground as possible in a fire, two-ways out, how to call for help and other fire prevention safety tips. The adults/parents who were attendance also received tips about practicing fire drills at home, making sure they have working smoke detectors and other important fire prevention tips. We would like to thank the Daisy's and their leaders for the delicious tray of girl scouts cookies they donated to the company. Attached are a few pictures and video from the tour. Any leader/parent of the troop requesting more pictures, please send an email to webmaster@collingdale1.com and we will forward them on.
