Holiday Weekend Brings Work

   

Saturday, July 3, 2010 On Saturday July 3rd, crews from Station 06 were loading up the trucks to start  Collingdale's 4th of July Parade as the tones dropped for the Building fire at 510 S. 4th Street in Colwyn borough. On the ticket: Company 92,04,21 and Company 06. 04-1arrived first to a 2 1/2 story occupied dwelling with smoke showing as 04-13 (D.Traband) assumed 4th St Command. Quint 06, Engine 06-1 and Engine 04-2 were next on location. 04-1's crew went in service with and inch 3/4 hand line, Quint 06's crew opened up the roof with a 4x4 hole and 06-1 and 04-2's crews provided a primary and secondary search of the building which were both negative. Also on the 3rd the Engine crew ran two more calls.  At approximately 5:30PM,  Collingdale Police requested the fire company for a ground ladder. Engine 06-1 made the response and were available within 15 minutes. Later in the evening after the crews wrapped up from the fireworks detail, Companies 06 and 42 were dispatched behind Mandies department store in Aldan for a dumpster fire. 06-1 under the command of 06-9A (Asst. Chief Hanly) quickly hit the street and arrived to a dumpster with a small fire inside, 06-1 handled the call with the booster line and 2 trash hooks and were available within minutes.
